I have been doing yoga for years and qualified as a teacher in 2005. Yoga for me is about living as positively as possible, and taking the time to be healthy in body and mind. I currently teach in a variety of styles - flow yoga combining postures and breath, and fitness yoga combining aerobic circuits exercises and deep stretching with breath. I have recently qualified to teach the much acclaimed Yoga for Healthy Backs programme.
June Mitchell has practised yoga since the mid 1970's, qualifying as a yoga teacher in 1977. She established Perth Yoga Centre in the 1980's, Riverside Centre in the 1990's, the prestigious CYS Yoga Teacher Training in 2003 and now runs Perth Yoga Studio. She honours the traditional teachings of yoga through the inspiration of William Mowat Thomson and Paul Dallaghan. June was a direct student of the ashtanga guru Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2004 in Mysore, India.
I trained with CYS here in Scotland in 2004 and subsequently completed my RYT 500 hr advanced training under the wonderful guidance of Bodhiyoga International - teaching yoga based upon Buddhist principles. Yoga and its teachings are part of my everyday life. My teaching varies according to the season and individual or class needs. Breath and posture work are put together into a mindful, releasing and energising flow, finishing with relaxation and meditation techniques. I teach regular classes at my studio in Grandtully and private classes for those new to yoga or with particular needs eg back issues or particular health problems. I also specialise in yoga for COPD and other breathing issues, yin yoga and somatic movement.
I have been teaching pre and postnatal yoga since 1996. I trained initially in South India and then with the active birth centre in London. In the late 90's I studied at the British Wheel of Yoga and then gained a diploma in baby yoga with Birthlight and then studied Yoga for the Special Child.
